UNKRA Gives Assistance to Mary Knoll Clinic in Pusan

At the clinic operated by the Mary Knoll Sisters in Pusan, the United Nations Korean Reconstruction Agency (UNKRA) is helping thousands of patients through its contribution of equipment and supplies to enable the clinic to provide orthopedic treatment for children suffering from tuberculosis of the bone and poliomyelitis. A series of disastrous fires have added to the distress of the population, and last year alone the clinic treated nearly 500,000 cases. Long before daybreak each morning, patients pack the courtyard and the alleyway leading to the clinic, as they patiently await their turn for examination and treatment. At the hands of skilled and devoted Sisters, doctors and nurses, they receive whatever medical assistance their condition requires.
Here, at the clinic, a youngster registers his protest at being ""weighed-in"" during one of the periodic health examinations which the clinic provides for children.
