UNKRA's Help to Korea

The Republic of Korea's first hydroponic farm has been established by the UN Korean Reconstruction Agency near Suwon. A dozen types of vegetables are now being grown there without any soil. The hydroponic farm, in which crops grow in gravel irrigated periodically by a mixture of chemicals and water, will be used for research in soil science and for the training of agricultural students. This picture shows a student caring for some of the plants grown at the farm.
