Increasing Public Health Services
The Government of the Republic of Korea has been attempting to strengthen its public health services. Towards the attainment of this goal, doctors, public health nurses, midwives, sanitarians, laboratory and X-ray technicians receive orientation and training in public health for various periods by a permanent Government staff, visiting lecturers and World Health Organization (WHO) experts. The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) is providing supplies, equipment, transport, drugs and diet supplements for 150 health centres and 300 medical clinics, as well as equipment, stipends and honoraria for the training programme.
