Ethiopian Forces Arrive in Korea

In November 1950, the UN Secretary-General was advised that "... The Imperial Ethiopian Government is prepared specifically to offer (as contribution to the Unified Forces in Korea) a contingent of 1069 officers and men..." Today the men of the Ethiopian expeditionary force land in a South Korean port. This picture shows President Syngman Rhee of the Republic of Korea, waiving his hat in welcome to the troops as the transport ship heads into a berth. At left is Admiral Sohn of the South Korean Navy.
