Assembly Opens Seventeenth Regular Session

18 September 1962

The Seventeenth Regular Session of the General Assembly opened at United Nations Headquarters this afternoon and elected as its President Ambassador Muhammad Zafrulla Khan, of Pakistan.
On the presidential rostrum Mr. Khan (r.) listening to one of the speakers. Seated beside him is Acting United Nations Secretary-General U Thant.
