Training a Civil Service Corps in Libya

At the Technical and Clerical Training Centre in Tripoli some 300 clerks and artisans are being trained for work first for government service and, after this demand has been satisfied, for private employment in industry and commerce. The Centre was set up in 1951, with the help of the International Labour Organisation (ILO) and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), to meet the newly-independent country's need for skilled clerical and technical help. The staff is provided by the Government and by the ILO.
The technical section provides training for fitters, turners, blacksmiths, sheet-metal workers, welders, carpenters, electricians and auto mechanics.
