Secretary-General Appoints Personal Representative in Korea

Informal portrait of Colonel Alfred G. Katzin newly appointed by Secretary-General Trygve Lie as his Personal Representative in Korea.
The appointment of Colonel Katzin was made with the objective of strengthening the Secretariat in line with his effort to assist in the affective implementation of the Security Council in Korea. The Colonel, who expects to leave for Korea at the end of the week, will head the Secretariat serving with the UN Commission for Korea. Colonel Katzin, a South Africa national, has served the United Nations on different previous assignments.
