Security Council Calls for Truce in Santo Domingo

The Security Council this evening asked the Secretary-General through its President, to inform his representative in Santo Domingo, Jose Mayobre, of the Council's desire that his urgent efforts should be devoted to an immediate securing of a suspension of hostilities so that the humanitarian work of the Red Cross to search for the dead and wounded may be facilitated. Secretary-General U Thant read to the Council the text of a report based on information received from his representative in Santo Domingo.
