Security Council Resumes Debate on India and Pakistan
The Security Council, resuming consideration tonight of the situation in India and Pakistan, at the request of the United States, received a United States proposal calling for an immediate cease-fire and withdrawal of troops. At the meeting - which began on the evening of Sunday, 12 December, and lasted into the early hours of Monday, 13 December - the Council heard statements by the Foreign Minister of India and the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Pakistan, as well as a statement by the United States representative, who introduced the proposal (document S/10446).
