Sixth Annual Session of Economic Commission for Africa (ECA)

The sixth annual session of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa opened in Addis Ababa today, 19 February 1964 in Africa Hall with representatives of 26 independent African countries in attendance. Mr. Momulu Massaquoi (Liberia) was elected Chairman of the session which is expected to end 2 March.
At this morning's opening meeting (l to r), Messrs. Victor Hoo, UN Commissioner for Technical Assistance in the Department of Economic and Social Affairs; ECA Executive Secretary Robert K.A. Gardiner; C. Kamitatu, Minister of Industrial Planning and Development, Congo (Leopoldville); N'Lika N'Guimbous, ECA Deputy Executive Secretary; and Endalkatchew Makonnen, Minister of Commerce and Industry, Ethiopia.
