Special Political Committee Agrees to Take Up Palestine Question First, Peacekeeping Operations Next

The Special Political Committee agreed this afternoon, following a long procedural debate, to take up the Palestine refugee question as the first item on its agenda. The item on a comprehensive review of the question of United Nations peace-keeping operations is to be taken up next, but, whenever an opportunity arises during the consideration of the Palestine refugee item, delegates who wish to make statements on the peace-keeping item will be given the floor.
At the presiding table (from left) are: Jose D. Ingles (Philippines), Vice-Chairman; Ralph J. Bunche, UN Under-Secretary for Special Political Affairs; Carlet R. Auguste (Haiti), Chairman; F.Y. Chai, Committee Secretary; and Hermod Lannung (Denmark), Rapporteur.
