Yugoslavia Ratifies Charter Amendments
Yugoslavia today ratified the amendments to Articles 23, 27 and 61 of the United Nations Charter, adopted by the General Assembly on 17 December 1963. The amendments to Articles 23 and 27 concern the Security Council and are aimed at enlarging its membership from 11 to 15 and, consequently, at changing its voting arrangement on non-procedural matters so that the number of affirmative votes required would be raised from 7 to 9 (including the votes of the permanent members). The amendment to Article 61 concerns the Economic and Social Council, whose membership would be raised from 18 to 27.
