New Permanent Representative of Honduras to United Nations
Portrait of Ambassador Policarpo Callejas, new Permanent Representative of Honduras to the United Nations presenting his credentials to Secretary-General U Thant. Ambassador Callejas joined his country's Foreign Service in 1955. He was Under-Secretary for Foreign Affairs of Honduras from January to September 1964. In 1963 he was Under-Secretary in charge of Labour and Social Welfare in Honduras. From 1957 to 1958 he was Charge d'Affaires in Nicaragua, and from 1956 to 1957 he was Charge d'Affaires in Washington and Deputy representative of Honduras in the Organization of American States. Born in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, on 17 September 1926, he graduated from Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, in 1949. In 1954 he received a law degree from the National University of Honduras.
