UNEF Leave Centre Closes

18 October 1960

Officers and enlisted men from seven countries are on duty as members of the United Nations Emergency Force, maintaining a constant vigil along the Armistice Demarcation line between Egypt and Israel. Throughout the UNEF area of operations, leave centres have been set up for these men. On 18 October, the Leave Centre which had been operating at Mount Broumana in Beirut was closed down, and the soldiers on leave there were airlifted back to the UNEF base at El Arish, Egypt.
