Secretary-General Visits Angola and Liberia

14 July 1979

Secretary-General Kurt Waldheim arrived in Angola on 14 July for a three-day visit. During his stay he had several meetings with President Agostinho Neto. On 15 July he met with Sam Nujoma, the President of SWAPO. On 17 July the Secretary-General arrived in Monrovia for the Organization of African Unity (OAU) Summit Meeting, which he addressed on 18 July. During his two-day visit he held extensive talks with African leaders on African issues. On 19 July the Secretary-General flew to Geneva to chair the meeting on refugees.
