Flags of Djibouti and Viet Nam Raised
The flags of the Republic of Djibouti and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam were raised at a ceremony this morning in front of the delegate's entrance to the UN Headquarters, following both nations' admission as the Organization's 148th and 149th members yesterday afternoon. The ceremony was attended by Hassan Gouled, President of Djibouti, Nguyen Duy Trinh, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Vietnam, Secretary-General Kurt Waldheim, and the President of the General Assembly, Lazar Mojsov (Yugoslavia).
The Vietnamese flag being raised at the ceremony. The flag is the same as that used by the former North Vietnam. It is red, with a gold star in the centre.
