Internally Displaced Persons in Sudan Return Home
A child of an Internally Displaced Person (IDP) sleeps on its parent's lap as the first plane flying back the IDPs to Southern Sudan prepares to take-off. The plane is chartered by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) for the return of the IDPs to southern Sudan, under the auspices of the Government of National Unity, the Government of Southern Sudan and the United Nations Joint Plan for Returns, via Juba. The IOM has already assisted 100 IDPs to return home and the organization plans to return a total of 1,600 Internally Displaced persons to Western and Central Equatoria by air. 15 more flights will follow and since February 43, 000 IDPs have been returned to their homes.
