The United Nations Care for the Palestine Refugees, Middle East
Early this year, the UN Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) was still taking care of, and feeding some 925,000 Arab refugees from the Palestine war of 1948. Over 500,000 of them are in Jordan and close to 215,000 in the Gaza Strip; the others are in Lebanon and Syria. Most of the refugees live in camps maintained by UNRWA. To help solve the unemployment problem, UNRWA employs as many refugees as possible as camp personnel. They help the administration or run medical, sanitation, feeding, vocational training and many other services.
These two UNRWA busses, seen in a street in Gaza, are transporting UNRWA-employed refugees from one camp to another.
