UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA)

Close-up of a refugee child in a 2nd grade class of a girls' school at the Jabal Hussein Camp. Three hundred ninety UNRWA schools provide 12 years of education for 187,000 refugee pupils. The programme is supervised by staff seconded from UNESCO. In addition the Agency subsidizes 60,000 pupils in Government and private schools.
