UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA)

A school (4 elementary classes and 2 secondary classes) in Nabatieh camp, 33 km from Saida in Southern Lebanon. There are 378 refugee children in the school which was built in 1955. Three hundred ninety UNRWA schools provide 12 years of education for 187,000 refugee pupils. The programme is supervised by staff seconded from UNESCO. In addition the Agency subsidizes 60,000 pupils in Government and private schools.
