Yawata Iron and Steel Works in Japan

Following the railway conference held in Tokyo earlier this month under the auspices of the U.N. Economic Commission for Asia and the Far East (ECAFE), some 40 railway executives and experts from 14 Asian and non-Asian countries participating in the conference spent ten days on a study tour of workshops, signalling and communication installations and rolling stock throughout the country. They also visited some of Japan's iron and steel works as well as rolling stock plants.
