Former Truce Supervisor Addresses UN Secretariat Staff

Lieutenant General William E. Riley, photographed at the conference table as he addressed members of the United Nations Secretariat staff regarding his experiences in connection with the supervision of the truce and implementation of the four armistice agreements between Egypt, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Lebanon and Syria on the one hand, and Israel on the other. General Riley served as U.N. Chief of Staff in charge of the U.N. Truce Supervision Organization in Palestine from October 1948 to June of 1953. Seated in front of the speaker is UN Secretary-General Dag Hammarskjöld.
