New U.N. Truce Chief in Palestine Holds Press Conference

Major-General E.L.M. Burns, of Canada, newly appointed Chief of Staff of the U.N. Truce Supervision Organization in Palestine (UNTSO), at a press conference he held today at United Nations Headquarters, in New York. General Burns told the correspondents that he expects to arrive in Jerusalem on 19 August to take up his new duties. There he will meet his predecessor, Major-General Vagn Bennike of Denmark, who will accompany him on a visit to the capitals of the Arab countries.
