UN Force (UNEF) in the Congo

1 July 1960

Following the Security Council resolution of 14 July 1960 authorizing UN military assistance to the Republic of the Congo, soldiers from a number of nations have been sent to help restore order and calm in the country. Personnel and equipment were needed to help in the setting up of the new United Nations Force.
At Gaza airfield, equipment from the UN Emergency Force (UNEF) is loaded on a plane to go to Jerusalem on the way to the Congo for the UN Mission there.
