Canada Contributes UNICEF Milk Powder to India

A gift by the Canadian Government of 9 million pounds of milk powder in support of UNICEF milk feeding programmes in India was brought over on a chartered ship, The Oregon Leader. The shipment nearly doubles the value of Canada's current annual contribution towards UNICEF funds. The Oregon Leader docked at Bombay on 15 October to unload 2 million pounds of the powdered milk, and proceeded on to Cochin, Madras, and Calcutta, to unload the rest.
