Assembly's Steering Committee Begins Work

The General (Steering) Committee of the United Nations General Assembly began work today on the agenda for the thirteenth regular session. The Committee is composed of the President of the Assembly, the 13 Vice-Presidents, and the Chairmen of the seven main Assembly Committees.
Dr. Charles Malik, Lebanon's Foreign Minister, who was elected President of the 13th session of the Assembly at yesterday's opening meeting, is seen here (center) presiding over today's meeting of the Steering Committee. UN Secretary-General Dag Hammarskjöld is seated at left; and Mr. Andrew W. Cordier, Executive Assistant to the Secretary-General, can be seen at right of Mr. Malik.
