Salvage Work in the Suez Canal

One of the most important obstacles in the Canal was removed on 4 January, when the UN salvage fleet lifted and removed the damaged eastern section of the El Ferdan bridge, 68 kilometers south of Port Said. This photo shows the vessels ""Ausdauer"" and ""Energie"" raising a section of the bridge. January 1957.
