UN Emergency Force in Port Said

22 December 1956

Anglo-French forces completed the total evacuation of Port Said on 22 December and the city was left under the control of the UN Emergency Force (UNEF) , which is jointly protecting it in cooperation with the Egyptian police. Evacuation completed 6.45 local time, when last ship sailed out of the harbor. Departure of Anglo-French forces ended a 48-day occpation which started 5 November.
