Security Council Begins Debate on Situation in Hungary
Meeting in urgent Sunday session, the Security Council opened debate yesterday on the situation in Hungary. The discussion was requested by France, the United Kingdom and the United States. It was opposed by the Soviet Union. The vote to place the matter on the agenda was 9 to 1 (USSR), with Yugoslavia abstaining. After reinstatement by all its members, the Council adjourned to meet again at the call of the President.
