Japanese Peace Bell at United Nations Headquarters

A view of the Japanese Peace Bell located in the area north of the Secretariat Building at United Nations Headquarters.
The Bell was donated to the United Nations in 1954 by the United Nations Association of Japan. It is cast from coins donated from 60 nations and individual contributions of various kinds of metal and housed in a typical Japanese Shinto shrine-like structure made of Japanese Cyprus wood.
