The United Nations site covers a sixteen acre, six block tract on Manhattan island, from 42nd to 48th Streets between First Avenue and the East River. The buildings are the 39-storey Secretariat (right), the General Assembly (centre), the Council Chambers and Conference Rooms (at the river's edge) and the Dag Hammarskjold Library (foreground).
