The Economic Game
The United Nations Films and Television has produced a twelve-minute colour film entitled, The Economic Game, illustrating how the distribution of the world's goods, services and technology affects the lives of all the people. Members of the Richard Morse Mime Theatre sit at a traditional gaming table and play cards to show how each country, as in real life, finds itself in terms of natural resources, technology and human resources. The terminology of world economics is explained with the use of specially designed playing cards bearing symbols for the elements of economics plus toys, models, small bars of gold, aluminium, etc. The film also explains how the loans are arranged, commodities are exchanged and what role the tariffs play.
Actors and actresses are seen playing the economics game.
