UN Television Brings the United Nations to the Screens of the World

The proceedings of the United Nations take place in full view of the public and the mass communications media of the world. The recently constituted television service of the Department of Public Information, in addition to kinescoped news coverage of events at United Nations Headquarters, prepares documentary Programmes, news commentaries and interviews in seven languages for TV stations in three continents.
Kinescope machine records image and sound and delivers a finished negative in ninety seconds. It enables UNTV to offer a rapid news service.
