UN Military Observers Killed by Air Strike in Lebanon

A view of the destroyed United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) patrol base in El-Khiam, southern Lebanon. On 25 July 2006, the base was destroyed by an Israeli air strike, killing four unarmed UN military observers. The base came under recurrent incidents of close firing from Israel and UNIFIL reports that, in total, 21 strikes were made within 300 meters of the patrol base.
