Scientific Committee on the Effects of Atomic Radiation
Secretary-General U Thant today addressed the Scientific Committee on the Effects of Atomic Radiation, which is holding its nineteenth session from 5 to 16 May at United Nations Headquarters. The meetings of the Committee, composed of scientists from 15 nations, are closed. The Committee, whose current Chairman is G.H. Butler (Canada), is discussing at this session such topics as environmental contamination, radiation-induced chromosome anomalies and the effects of ionizing radiation on the nervous system.
