Secretary-General Receives Gift from Mexican Olympic Committee

The President of the Olympic Organizing Committee of Mexico, Pedro Ramirez-Vasquez (right) presented to UN Secretary-General U Thant (left), a small Mexican silver stela which is a replica of the markers used in ancient Aztec athletic games and a booklet on the programme of cultural events which will be held in Mexico City during the 1968 Olympic Games. Accompanying Senor Ramirez-Vasquez on his UN visit was the Permanent Representative of Mexico to the United Nations, Francisco Cuevas-Cancino (centre).
