Torres Bodet of Mexico Replaces Julian Huxley as Director General of UNESCO
Dr. Jaime Torres Bodet, Foreign Minister of Mexico was elected Director-General of the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization in succession to professor Julian Huxley of the United Kingdom, Director-General since 1946. The election took place at the third session of UNESCO's General Conference, now being held in Beirut, Lebanon. Mr. Torres Bodet is a noted diplomat and educator.
