Farming for Development: Agriculture in Burma

Agriculture provides employment for three-fourths of the population of Burma. Rice accounts for 40% of the country's exports. In an effort to introduce modern farming techniques to the rural areas, the Government has undertaken several agricultural development projects with help from the Food and Agriculture Organization under the UN Development Programme.
