General Assembly President Confers with Group of Four Envoys

Jean Ping (centre), President of the fifty-ninth session of the General Assembly, met today at UN Headquarters with the Permanent Representatives to the United Nations of the so-called Group of Four (""G4""). Left to right are: Kenzo Oshima, Permanent Representative of Japan to the United Nations; Gunter Pleuger, Permanent Representative of Germany to the United Nations; Mr. Ping; Denis Dangue Réwaka (standing), Permanent Representative of Gabon to the United Nations; Koji Tsuruoka, Permanent Mission of Japan; and Michael Freiherr von Ungern-Sternberg, Permanent Mission of Germany. The ""G4"" refers to Japan, Brazil, Germany and India, all of whom are aspiring to become permanent members of the Security Council.
