United Nations Peace-Keeping Force in Cyprus

The United Nations peace-keeping force in Cyprus (UNFICYP) was established by action of the United Nations Security Council to help prevent a recurrence of hostilities in the Republic of Cyprus. The Force will be stationed in various sectors of the country and, under the terms of the Security Council resolution, will remain in the island for a period of three months. To date, the Force is composed of contingents from Canada, Finland, Ireland, Sweden and the United Kingdom, and police from Austria.
Canadian and Swedish soldiers serving with UNFICYP read ""The Blue Beret"" - a UNFICYP newspaper.
