UN Peace-Keeping Force in Cyprus (UNFICYP)

27 April 1964

The United Nations Peacekeeping force in Cyprus (UNFICYP) was established by action of the UN Security Council to help prevent a recurrence of hostilities in the Republic of Cyprus. The Force will be stationed in the country, under the terms of the Security Council resolution, for a period of three months and will be composed of contingents from Canada, Finland, Ireland, Sweden and the United Kingdom.
