The General Assembly ended its 1955 session at this meeting, after electing Yugoslavia to succeed Turkey on the Security Council on 1st January. Ambassador R.S.S. Gunewardene, of Ceylon, as he addressed a plenary meeting of the United Nations General Assembly at UN Headquarters this morning.
