The General Assembly met this afternoon to install Dag Hammarskjöld of Sweden as Secretary-General of the United Nations.
Dag Hammarskjöld at the speaker's rostrum, delivering his inaugural address to the Assembly. Seated at the presidential rostrum: Mr. Lester B. Pearson (center) of Canada, President of the current session of the General Assembly, and Mr. Andrew Cordier, Executive Assistant to the Secretary-General.
