Dag Hammarskjöld Funeral Service in Sweden

Dignitaries from many lands attended the funeral service this afternoon in Uppsala, the ecclesiastical capital of Sweden and the place where Dag Hammarskjöld was raised. Members of the Hammarskjöld family stand at the foot of the grave as the coffin sinks in the family tomb. Flags of the United Nations and Sweden are borne on each side. At the right is the celebrated Uppsala University student chorus, which sang during the services in the cathedral and at the graveside. The last ceremony for the late UN Secretary-General was held today in his home town of Uppsala.
