The Dag Hammarskjöld Library

The Dag Hammarskjöld Library

The Library at UN Headquarters, financed by a gift from the Ford Foundation, is built on white marble, glass and aluminum. The building consists of six stories and a penthouse, three of the floors lying above ground and three below. The Library was dedicated in November 1961 as the Dag Hammarskjöld Library, in memory of the late Secretary-General, who had interested himself closely in every phase of its planning and construction.
