Security Council Adopts Second Resolution Calling for Full Respect for International Status of UNFICYP and Co-operation in Carrying out its Tasks

The Security Council tonight adopted two further resolutions on Cyprus in which it insisted on the immediate and strict observance of the cease-fire and demanded full respect for the international status of the United Nations Peace-keeping force in Cyprus (UNFICYP). The resolution insisting on a cease-fire was adopt unanimously. The resolution concerning UNIFCYP was adopted by a vote of 14 in favour to none against, with no abstentions and with China not participating.
