First Audio Transcription ever Recorded at the United Nations Presented to Secretary General

The first audio transcription ever recorded at the United Nations is shown being presented as part of a commemorative plaque to Secretary-General Boutros Boutros-Ghali (left) as a belated fiftieth anniversary gift at a Headquarters ceremony.
The audio was discovered a few months ago during "housecleaning" and then restored by the broadcast engineers. Making the presentation to the Secretary-General is Chuck McGlade (second from left), Business Representative from Local 1212. Also attending the ceremony are other members of the Broadcast Engineers Union: Chuck Rini (third from right), Executive Board member of Local 1212; George Janava (second from right), Supervisor of Local 3 Electrical Shop; Vincent Butler (right), Assistant to the Business Manager of Local 1212. The audio had been recorded on 22 June 1945 and was a radio broadcast by General Leclerc bidding farewell to his troops.
