Capodichino Airport, UNEF Staging Area

As of yesterday, a total of 1,666 troops had been transported from Capodichino Airport, the staging area for the units of the UN Emergency Force (UNEF) near here, to Abu Suweir, Egypt. The troops have included units from Canada, Colombia, Denmark, India, Norway and Sweden. In addition, Yugoslav troops sent to Egypt directly put the total strength of UNEF in Egypt today at 2,474.
Shown here is one of the Canadian C-119 ""flying boxcars"" in which the Canadian soldiers travelled from their country. The plane displays the UN emblem on its wings and tail assembly and has ""United Nations"" painted in big letters on both sides of the fuselage.
