United Nations Artwork: "Single Form"

This large sculpture, titled "Single Form", is by the renowned sculptress Barbara Hepworth of England. The 21-foot sculpture was given to the United Nations through a grant by the Jacob and Hilda Blaustein Foundation, in memory of Dag Hammarskjöld, the second Secretary-General of the United Nations (1953-1961), who died in a fatal plane crash in the Congo in 1961.
The sculpture stands on a granite plinth and is mounted on the site of the ornamental pool in front of the Secretariat building. It was installed in 1964.
