High-Level Meeting of Commission on Sustainable Development

28 April 2004

The Commission on Sustainable Development met today to begin its high-level segment on water, sanitation and human settlements. Secretary-General Kofi Annan addressed the Commission saying that progress towards sustainable development had been uneven, but important agreements had been signed, binding conventions were entering into force, developing country capacities had been strengthened, and official development assistance had risen.
